Unreleased Track - “Sweetheart,” from Nocturnes
Releases have been more or less on hold while I’m wrapping up the Sad Disco project, which is hi-fi, clinical, and pretty labor intensive. I’ve been a perfectionist on this project, because it’s a maximalist genre with so many pieces that fit into each section. If everything doesn’t fit together in each section, then it doesn’t feel right, and if each section doesn’t fit together, the whole song becomes a mess. So I’ve been spending more time on it that I’d like, and worrying over every little part.
As a result, I’m impatient to share my other work. I have a song here called “Sweetheart” that’s off the Nocturnes project. This project is different enough from Sad Disco that this belongs on its own project entirely. I can’t stagger releases single by single without sowing confusion on my algorithm (and with an audience that is still learning who I am and what I make), so I wanted to share it here. It’s a full version, written and produced but still raw. Its instrumentation is latin and electronic and the lyric is reminiscent of a Paul Simon solo track. I love this one and wanted to share it with you. Check it out on Patreon. (It’s free for now.)
