Bootleg #1 - Celestial Drift
Releases have been more or less on hold while I’m wrapping up the Sad Disco project, which is hi-fi, clinical, and pretty labor intensive. I’ve been a perfectionist on this project, because it’s a maximalist genre with so many pieces that fit into each section. If everything doesn’t fit together in each section, then it doesn’t feel right, and if each section doesn’t fit together, the whole song becomes a mess. So I’ve been spending more time on it that I’d like, and worrying over little parts.
As a palette cleanser, I’ve been experimenting with a more analogue style of recording, with performances running from start to finish on a song, and flaws left in. I was inspired by instrumentals like Sebastien Tellier’s “La Ritournelle,” and wanted to create a song with that ethereal, downtempo indie instrumental vibe. I recorded it in my apartment on a rainy day, and made a short video promo for it.
This is an unofficial release, not available on streaming services, but available on bandcamp. I recorded this in a night with my elektron digitakt, two guitars (one electric, one classical), piano sounds from a keyboard, and an electric bass.
