The first four songs on this are perfect to me, and if you don’t make it any farther than those first four, you’ll be in a pretty good spot. Q’s “Today” has an unreal build that I listen to again and again just to hear the drums come in. “Sweep Me Off My Feet” is just so well done, with fantastic sounds and a few great lyrical turns. CARRTOONS are an unreal vibe, and HNNY’s “Cheer up, My Brother” is a song I can listen to over and over again, in any kind of weather.

La Ritournelle - Sebastién Tellier

Farther down the list, Sebastién Tellier’s “La Ritournelle” is a song that I come back to again and again. It is a song that is full of feeling. Damon Albarn once said “Tony Allen gets me dancing” on a Blur single, and with Tony Allen on drums, this song is incredibly fluid in spite of the repetition of many of its motifs. The string arrangement that slowly creeps in is lush, and the verse that surprises you after several minutes of instrumental is all of the lyrical content the song needs.

HAHA - Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul

Also, a great mention, but Charlotte Adigéry’s “HAHA” is one of the strangest, most experimental and awesome songs I’ve ever heard. If you’re ever looking for something truly different, this is it. Posting the music video below so you can see how wild it is.
